Locomotive radar 77 GHz

The specialized locomotive radar 77 GHz is designed to assist the driver during shunting operations, as well as for remote control of speed and distance, including the process of safe braking, when operating a shunting locomotive in an unmanned version.

The radar can be installed on the locomotive for more convenient and safe operations for coupling the locomotive with the wagons. Information about the speed of convergence of the locomotive and rolling stock can be displayed on the display (tablet) or be transferred to an automated traffic control system.

The radar is an all-weather device and is free from such significant disadvantages of laser rangefinders in determining speed and range, as errors when illuminated by gentle sunlight and when working in fog or in snowy / rainy weather.

The output interface in the Ethernet standard allows you to transmit accurate distance and speed data to the computerized control system of an unmanned locomotive or to the driver on an additional display (as an option).

Locomotive radar functionality:

  • The radar has a range of up to 300 m and reliably determines the distance from the locomotive to the rolling stock in the course of movement, as well as the speed of the locomotive.
  • The radar provides a range significantly greater than the braking distance of the locomotive at the maximum permissible speed for shunting operations of 40 km/h.
  • The radar determines the distance between the locomotive and the standing cars with an accuracy of 0.15 m at a frequency of 10 times per second.
  • Measurements can be carried out in direct sunlight, at night and in difficult weather conditions (rain, snow, fog).
